With numerous guitarists, Blackmore at 13 was not considered good enough to play guitar in this, his first band. Instead he started on a dog box, before playing a washboard. There were thought to be other musicians including a couple of girl singers. There was at least one other short-lived school group with fellow pal and guitarist, Barry Lovegrove.
