As
mentioned in issue 33, new publications are in the
pipeline. Wymer Publishing a new wing of MBTP will
be producing these books. The first of these, The
More Black than Purple
Interviews is already in progress and will be
published on 3rd September. Check out our Store
for further details.
Other publications to follow will include a book on
Rainbow's 1976 album and tour, provisionally titled In
The Shadow Of The Wizard
This will be an in-depth look at Rainbow's classic 1976 year. From the recording of Rainbow Rising, the concert rehearsals, through to the first-ever full scale World Tour. The story of the album and tour will be bolstered with words from the band, crew, journalists and fans, including listing every show with press reports and fan recollections. There will also be photos, memorabilia, and a detailed list of all the bootlegs and official recordings connected with Rainbow's golden year of 1976. Anyone who can contribute with photos, memorabilia and other info are welcome to contact me. I intend to make this a worthy companion to the recorded output of the Bain-Carey line-up and hopefully it will be both entertaining as well as a useful reference source.
We welcome contributions from anyone who saw the tour, especially if you took photos, or still have your concert ticket. I am also appealing particularly to our overseas readers. Do you have any press articles, advertising posters or other memorabilia from the Rising
tour? Particularly from fans in, Scandinavia, America, Australia, Japan and France. Are there any French fans who can pinpoint, which of the gigs it was where Ritchie and Cozy swapped instruments? There must have been a review of this gig somewhere!
Other books that are potentially in the pipeline include a Blackmore’s Night book, with full gig lists, discography, previously unpublished photos, memorabilia, interviews with band members and more. Similarly, one on Ritchie’s early career is also being considered, including a full and comprehensive discography, gig list, press articles and photos. if anyone has any memorabilia relating to the sixties era, please get in
touch through this site.
Other
books on different artists are also under consideration.
